EAA AirVenture, Oshkosh, WI, July 23, 2024: Aspen Avionics announced a partnership with Electronics International to configure engine monitoring hardware for Aspen’s Evolution Multi-function displays. The new engine monitoring features, currently in development, will be demonstrated in beta form at the Aspen Avionics booth in Hangar B at EAA AirVenture 2024. It is designed to provide precise engine data in an intuitive format to enhance pilot safety and aircraft performance with intuitive engine instrumentation.  The engine monitoring feature will display critical engine data on Aspen’s Evolution MFD500 MAX and MFD1000 MAX multi-function displays. The software-based upgrade to be available for four- or six-cylinder single-engine piston aircraft.

“Partnering with a trusted and capable organization like Electronics International to provide an engine instrumentation solution for new Aspen installations and aircraft already equipped with Aspen displays continues to demonstrate our commitment to providing aircraft owners an upgrade path for new functions without having to invest thousands in new avionics equipment,” said Mark Ferrari, vice president of sales and customer support.

“We expect that once the software approval is obtained, owners may pair our displays with the EDC-33P engine data converter and sensors from Electronics International and remove old primary engine instruments such as RPM, manifold, EGT/CHT, fuel level, oil temperature and pressure, volt/amp, fuel low, fuel press and TIT gauges, further improving reliability with EFIS-based critical engine information,” continued Ferrari.

Engine instrumentation is expected to be available mid-2025.

“Electronics International is excited to partner with Aspen Avionics. By pairing our decades of experience in engine data collection and processing with Aspen’s Evolution Display, we can offer an engine management solution that fits perfectly into any plane. Our shared commitment to outstanding customer support was a key factor in our decision,” said Dan Bennett, Director of Special Projects for Electronics International.
